Get away from the cold winter and join me on the “Big” Island in January. Come with us and visit the rain forests, black sand beaches of this tropical paradise. We will visit some of the driest coastlines in the world, as well as some of the wettest, only a few house away. We’ll visit the volcano “Mauna Loa” with its constant eruptions sending both steam and lava flowing and creating even more of the island itself.
We will visit some of the most majestic waterfalls the Hilo Coast located in canyons of tropical forests. We will then travel a short distance and photography the spectacular views of the cliffs looking down on the Palou Valley.  Perhaps one of the best Botanical gardens in the world is just north of Hilo. We’ll work on our macro skills there and capture some of the rarest plants anywhere.
On the west side of the island or the “Dry side” the beautiful sandy beaches as well as rigged coastlines make up this area. Restored temples, carved wooden idles intersperse between the gigantic palm trees. It is common to see giant green sea turtles sunning themselves on the beautiful beaches.
Finally, we’ll visit the crater of Kilauea and Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Photography of the crater itself and perhaps some lava flows if we get lucky are a highlight in this location.
We'll be doing all this an more while working on our photographic skills, review our images and discussing pertinent photographic topics. This IS a workshop, not a tour. Since we will have a relatively small group, complete hands on, in the field attention is paid to each attendee.
